collaboration, and the power of story.
Natalie Johnson is an award-winning writer, director and producer whose work spans both theater and film. With an emphasis on socially relevant themes, Natalie strives to tell stories of those less heard. She studied at The American Academy of Dramatic Arts and as an actor, she has worked Off-Broadway (and way-off Broadway) and in film & television before she transitioned to writing, directing and producing her own work. Her films have screened Brooklyn Horror Film Festival, Nitehawk Cinema and the Museum of the Moving Image. Films she has produced have screened at MoMA in collaboration with the Future of Film is Female and the HBO Latino Film Festival, among others. She is a member of NYC Women Filmmakers & Cinefemme. Other projects include a collaboration with her husband, Ivan Asin, artist and NYC public school art teacher on an illustrated book of poetry that is fun for kids and parents alike. She speaks three languages, is a former skiing and snowboarding instructor, and, if you work together, she will cook for you. Natalie is currently studying somatic therapy at the Institute of Core Energetics, where is on track to become a practitioner. She lives in Queens, NY with her husband and their 3 year old son.
